Meet the team

Keith Kendrick, Group magazines editor

Keith spent his early career writing for evening newspapers on a diverse range of lifestyle topics, as well as developing his own food blog. After working as editor of sister titles Easy Cook and the Home Cooking series, he then went on to edit BBC Good Food magazine, before eventually overseeing the whole food group. A passionate steak lover and turophile, Keith is a judge for the British Cheese Awards, World Cheese Awards and an Associate of the Academy of Cheese.

Lulu Grimes, Group managing editor

Lulu was previously the hub director at BBC Good Food. She has wide experience in magazine editorial (olive magazine, Food and Travel and Sainsbury’s Magazine), worked as a food editor for Murdoch books in Sydney. She has also written for The Sydney Morning Herald, has taught food courses at City University and Leith’s School of Food and Wine and has published a number of cookbooks.

Janine Ratcliffe, Deputy magazines editor

As well as being deputy magazines editor, Janine Ratcliffe is olive magazine’s Food Director and has worked with the brand since its launch in 2003. She has developed and written thousands of olive magazine’s most popular recipes as well as editing the olive 101 series of books for Penguin. Janine is the host of the award-winning weekly olive magazine podcast and has also created many of the viral olive recipe videos for social media and You Tube.

Cassie Best, Food director

Cassie trained as a chef at Leiths School of Food and Wine, where she won a place on an internship scheme run with BBC Good Food. In the four years she has been working at Good Food she has created many recipes, with baking being her main passion.

Anna Glover, Food editor, video

Anna is a recipe writer and food stylist and has worked on food magazines for over seven years, writing recipes for magazines including Olive and Sainsbury’s magazine. She loves whipping up new creations with well-known ingredients to create easily accessible recipes that everyone can make.

Barney Desmazery, Skills and shows editor

As the longest standing member of the cookery team, skills and shows editor Barney has written, developed and tested thousands of recipes for BBC Good Food. He started his career as a chef and during his time at Good Food he’s worked alongside practically every British celebrity chef of the last decade. Barney is also our resident gadget geek and road tests equipment for our review pages.

Adam Bush, Deputy food editor

Adam has worked for olive magazine since 2016, before becoming deputy editor across both brands. He is a professionally trained chef and has worked in some of London’s swankiest kitchens (including Fera at Claridge’s, The Jugged Hare, Chiswell Street Dining Rooms) and a sourdough baker in hip East London, so his expertise comes in writing delicious, imaginative recipes for the people at home.

Liberty Mendez, Recipe developer

After completing a professional chef diploma at Westminster Kingsway College, Liberty worked as a pastry chef at the House of Commons before joining the team at Good Food as cookery assistant. Specialising in all things patisserie, her cakes are much sought-after among the Good Food team. She’s also interested in environmental issues and endeavours to make the test kitchen as eco-friendly as possible.

Lily Barclay, Group digital editor

Before becoming the food group digital editor, Lily previously held the roles of senior writer, family editor and editor for BBC Good Food. Lily started her career working in the Cbeebies team in 2009, before joining BBC Gardeners’ World, and also writing for the National Geographic, BBC Green and Explorer magazine. She has written extensively on all areas surrounding family food and children’s health.

Natalie Hardwick, Digital editor, bbcgoodfood.com

Natalie is editor on bbcgoodfood.com. She started her career as a music journalist before moving into food writing in 2011. She has written for The Guardian, Vice and New Statesman among others and authored an e-book published by Influx Press. Natalie has held various staff positions at BBC Good Food, including writer, features editor and, most recently, reviews and e-commerce editor.

Amanda Nicolas, Acting digital editor, bbcgoodfood.com

Amanda is digital editor of bbcgoodfood.co.uk while Natalie Hardwick is on maternity leave. Before joining the team she worked as a journalist for Channel 4, UKTV Food, delicious. magazine, and Guild of Fine Food before taking a year out to complete the Leiths Food and Wine diploma. She has contributed to several cookbooks including award-winning Samarkand.

Tracey Raye, Health editor

Tracey oversees all health, nutrition and fitness related content across BBC Good Food, including the Healthy Diet Plan, monthly Health Edit newsletter and magazine health column. Tracey, MSc, is a registered nutritionist, holding a master’s degree in Personalised Nutrition, plus further degree qualifications in Psychology and Philosophy. She is also a member of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Alongside being digital food editor, Georgina is also responsible for drinks and cocktails on bbcgoodfood.com and olive magazine.com. She studied English and Spanish at Nottingham University and went on to study a masters in magazine journalism at Nottingham Trent University. Her interest in food and travel was born during her year living in Madrid. She loves creative veggie cooking, indulgent bakes and discovering new whiskies.

Lucy Roxburgh, Reviews and e-commerce editor

Before joining the team as reviews and e-commerce editor, Lucy trained at Leiths and worked as a private chef and digital editor at Tesco Real Food. She works with our team of freelancers on producing new content, as well as writing food reviews and gift guides. She also co-ordinates our Christmas, Easter and Summer Taste Awards plus the dedicated Wine and Spirits Awards.

Alice Johnston, Audience development executive

Prior to joining BBC Good Food as digital assistant, Alice studied Geography at the University of Cambridge, then went on to work for the National Trust and BBC Audiences Research team. She is now pursuing her interest in SEO, user research and data in the role of audience development executive. She has also written recipes and articles covering her interests of kombucha, baking and long distance running.

Maga is our junior food and reviews writer. Her Mexican upbringing and love of foreign languages and cultures have shaped her taste for spicy food and good cheese. Before joining the BBC Good Food and olive magazine teams, Helen was a freelance journalist for titles such as Cosmopolitan and Delish, and worked on the editorial teams at delicious.com magazine, Co-op and Leiths school of Food and Wine. Helen has completed a Masters degree in Magazine Journalism from City University and English degree from the University of Bristol.

Emily Burg, Editorial assistant

Emily Burg is responsible for writing on a variety of topics from food, family and lifestyle as well as helping out with audience research tasks. During the lockdown, her love for cooking and being transported around the world from the comfort of her kitchen inspired her to start a career in food journalism. She has a bachelor’s degree in Religion and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield.
